Red Sox's David Price: No longer experiencing inflammation

Price said Monday that he's no longer experiencing any inflammation in his left elbow and is recovering faster than the Red Sox anticipated, Evan Drellich of Boston Herald reports.

Analysis:

Price has been throwing into a net for the last two days, and with the southpaw showing increased flexibility with the elbow, the Red Sox could soon clear him for more intense workouts. While Price mentioned that team trainers told him that surgery would be recommended on the elbow if he were younger, the 31-year-old noted that his UCL feels fine through the treatment he's received so far, and it appears he's nearly regained his full range of motion. Because he's not yet close to pitching in Grapefruit League games, Price seems on track to open the season on the disabled list, but he's hopeful it won't be an extended stint.
