Pirates' Jung Ho Kang: Placed on restricted list
Kang was placed on the restricted list Saturday, but the team has not officially announced the move or provided a timetable for his activation, the Pittsburgh Tribune's Rob Biertempfel reports.
Analysis:
Disciplinary action was coming for Kang from the Pirates after he was formally charged with his third DUI-related offense in February. We still don't know how long Kang will be kept on the restricted list, but it is possible he could miss the first couple weeks of the regular season. He should have already been discounted in drafts, so this should not change his value and simply makes the punishment official. David Freese should start at third base while Kang is out. His status will be updated when the team announces the length of the suspension.
