Red Sox's David Price: Throws in batting cage
Price (elbow) made 25 light throws in a batting cage Saturday, the first time he has thrown since being shut down with inflammation, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
Analysis:
Price continues to progress faster than expected, but manager John Farrell cautioned that the ace is still "a ways away" from throwing off a mound. "He's been progressing since the day he came in sore," the skipper said. "But that's all relative, relative to how he feels today and what's being asked of him from a rehab and throwing program standpoint." Nonetheless, Price's ability to go through a regular throwing motion is a great sign for his recovery and a return by Opening Day certainly isn't out of the question. Look for him to ramp up his pitching activities within the next week.
