Watch: Heyward halts 0-for-15 start with HR

So ... about those improvements to Jason Heyward's swing.

Having been marred in a 0-for-15 start with four strikeouts to kick off spring training, Heyward's slump-busting hit turned out to be a solo home run in Monday's game against Jesse Chavez and the Los Angeles Angels.

The defensively elite Chicago Cubs outfielder, who struggled immensely last season to generate offense, has made an attempt to reinvent his swing by significantly lowering his hands at the plate. While it's clearly taking Heyward some time to adjust, perhaps the long ball is a sign of things to come.

The 27-year-old hit .230/.306/.325 with seven home runs and 49 RBIs last season.
