Dodgers' Scott Kazmir: Makes Cactus League debut Wednesday
Kazmir made his spring training debut Wednesday, throwing 1.2 innings while giving up two runs (one earned) while walking two and striking out one in a win over the Giants.
Analysis:
The Dodgers had been bringing their veteran lefty along slowly this spring after he was shut down with a rib injury last season. The club obviously felt comfortable enough to forgo the scheduled simulated game and have him start Wednesday's contest against the Giants. The results were mixed for Kazmir, as he unraveled a bit after retiring the first four batters of the game. Despite being a veteran with a decent track record, the 33-year-old will have to compete for the Dodgers' fifth starter opening with several other veteran arms this spring.
