Mets' Matt Harvey: Scheduled to pitch Sunday
Harvey (shoulder) is scheduled to make his Grapefruit League debut Sunday against the Cardinals, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
Analysis:
Harvey struggled mightily in 2016 before he was shut down for good in July after requiring thoracic outlet surgery, but the former staff ace progressed about as well as the Mets could have hoped throughout the offseason and entered spring training at full strength. Though spring training stats are normally worth disregarding, those planning on investing in shares of Harvey will at least want to keep an eye on his velocity and command in Grapefruit League play in order to ascertain if the 27-year-old has returned to reasonable form. Even if he makes it through the spring unscathed, Harvey will still carry plenty of injury risk during the season, but his price may have dropped enough to make him worth the gamble in drafts and auctions.
