Castro doesn't know why anyone runs on Sanchez

The growing legend of New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez is not limited to his bat. Sanchez threw out two Toronto Blue Jays baserunners, outfielder Ezequiel Carrera and infielder Jon Berti, during the third inning in Sunday's 7-2 Yankees victory.

Sanchez's play behind the plate has garnered respect of his fellow teammates like second baseman Starlin Castro already.

"I don't know why they run," Castro said, according to Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News. “It’s unbelievable, because both of them got a good jump and they were both out by two feet. It’s pretty amazing. Not even close.”

In his 36 games at catcher in 2016, baserunners attempted 32 stolen bases against Sanchez. He threw out 13 for a 41 percent conversion rate. Only Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez and Detroit Tigers catcher James McCann had better success rates over the entire season.
