Indians' Jason Kipnis: Receives cortisone shot

Kipnis, who is dealing with a rotator cuff strain in his right shoulder, received a cortisone shot and will be shut down from throwing for around five days, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Although it didn't hinder him last year, Kipnis has been nagged by shoulder injuries in past seasons and, as a result of this latest issue, has seen a lighter workload thus far in spring. He'll refrain from throwing for a week or so, but then he should be back. "If it was during the season, we wouldn't do anything," manager Terry Francona said. The situation will be monitored, but it doesn't seem like much to worry about, especially with the extra time this spring to ease him back into action.
