Red Sox's Rick Porcello: Set to throw sim game Sunday
Porcello will throw a two-inning simulated game Sunday, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis:
Manager John Farrell hasn't named a starter for Opening Day, but Porcello is in the mix. If he were to work every fifth day after his sim game, he would make six spring starts and be lined up for the Opening Day assignment. He won the 2016 American League Cy Young award and normally would be a shoo-in for the assignment, but the team added Chris Sale in the offseason to their embarrassingly rich starting staff.
