Twins' Glen Perkins: Another bullpen session on tap Wednesday

Perkins (shoulder) is scheduled to throw his next bullpen session Wednesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

The Twins are taking it slowly with Perkins in the spring while he recovers from surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder, which limited him to just two appearances in 2016. There's plenty of risk of Perkins failing to return to the form that saw him record three 30-plus-save seasons in a row, and he could be forced to spend the beginning of 2017 on the DL if he's unable to pitch in Grapefruit League games by the time the spring ends. Perkins will need to make demonstrable progress in the coming weeks if he hopes to displace Brandon Kintzler as the team's closer to begin the season.
