Reds' Amir Garrett: Working on offspeed offerings

Garrett will work to improve his changeup and slider in spring training in his quest to win a rotation slot with the Reds, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Analysis:

Garrett is the only potential Reds candidate for an Opening Day rotation spot without any major league experience, and that will probably work against him to make the initial roster. But he also might have a higher ceiling than most of his competitors for the fourth and fifth spot in the rotation and could get an early call from Triple-A Louisville if he doesn't win the job outright.
