Rangers' Tyson Ross: Unlikely to be on mound until mid-March

Ross (shoulder) probably won't be on a mound until mid-March, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

Ross has been steadily progressing in gaining back strength from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, but it seems he'll start the season behind other Rangers pitchers. It's still unknown when the right-hander will be able to return to game action, but it will likely be in the latter stages of April. With Ross out indefinitely, expect A.J. Griffin and Dillon Gee to compete for the final spot in the rotation.
