Kershaw: Trout's so consistently good, he 'almost gets lost in the shuffle'

Baseball's most dominant pitcher, Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, is suitably impressed by Mike Trout's ability to be the league's most exceptional talent at only 25 years old.

"He almost gets lost in the shuffle because he's so good all the time," Kershaw said of Trout's impact on the game, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. "That's a measure of a great player who I really respect."

Kershaw and the Los Angeles Angels center fielder have recorded eerily similar WAR over the years. Since 2010, Trout's 47.7 WAR leads the league for position players, while Kershaw (47.5) is first among all starters.

Trout has cemented himself as one of the league's most consistent performers since his rookie season in 2011. In addition to leading baseball in WAR in each of the past five seasons, the talented outfielder has ranked first in the league in adjusted OPS three times (2012, 2015, 2016) and in runs scored four times (2012-2014, 2016).

As the 29-year-old Kershaw enters his 10th season in the league, his accomplishments already guarantee his future spot in Cooperstown. The three-time Cy Young winner and 2014 NL MVP is looking forward to this season after an injury-plagued 2016 campaign in which he was limited to only 21 starts - the fewest since his rookie season in 2008.
