Rangers' Jurickson Profar: To start in LF against righties

Profar appears poised to start in left field against right-handed pitching this season, the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant reports.

Analysis:

The Rangers signed Mike Napoli to play primarily at first base, which pushes Shin-Soo Choo to DH and Profar to left field. While Profar is a switch hitter, he has a 93 wRC+ against righties and a 35 wRC+ against lefties for his career, so a platoon seems necessary. Ryan Rua figures to start in left field against southpaws. Profar is entering his age-24 season, so it is too early to completely give up on the player who was the consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball prior to the 2013 season. He is flyer material in deeper mixed leagues.
