The San Francisco Giants announced Wednesday they've agreed to a minor-league deal with infielder Gordon Beckham.

Beckham will earn $1.25 million if he makes the big-league club, according to Jon Heyman of FanRagSports.

The 30-year-old will apparently compete with Jae-Gyun Hwang and others for the 25th spot on the club's roster, according to Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan.

Beckham, a No. 8 overall selection in the 2008 draft, split last season between the Giants and Atlanta Braves, fashioning a .212/.294/.347 slash line with five home runs and 31 RBIs.

He played second and third base as well as shortstop, and should give the Giants a versatile defensive option off of their bench if he makes the club.

Over the course of his eight-year career, Beckham owns a .240/.303/.370 hitting line with 74 home runs and 335 RBIs.
