Twins, Breslow agree to minor-league deal

Craig Breslow is headed to the Twin Cities, as the southpaw told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports on Wednesday that he's agreed to a minor-league deal with the Minnesota Twins.

Breslow said his potential effect on the organization led him to reject better financial offers from other clubs.

"The thing that resonated the most with me was the idea that I could impact the culture and impact the direction of the organization for longer than potentially my stay there might be," Breslow told Rosenthal.

He also had high praise for Twins executive vice president and chief baseball officer Derek Falvey.

"I think Derek is a really engaging and bright guy with a great vision for the organization," Breslow said. "I've got no doubt that he'll be able to ... bring sustained success. The opportunity to be part of that at this stage of my career is one that is really compelling."

An 11-year veteran in the big leagues, Breslow was one of the top left-handed relievers still available on the market. The 36-year-old posted a 4.50 ERA in 14 innings last season with the Miami Marlins, though he owns a career 3.35 ERA.
