Blue Jays agree to minor-league deal with Harrell

The Toronto Blue Jays added some starting pitching depth Monday after agreeing to a minor-league deal with right-hander Lucas Harrell.

Harrell split last season between the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers, going 3-2 with a 4.21 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts over 47 innings.

The 31-year-old has six years of major-league experience and spent the 2015 season pitching in Korea.

Originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the fourth round of the 2004 draft, Harrell broke into the majors in 2010 and spent two more seasons on the South Side before the Houston Astros claimed him off waivers.

Harrell's best season came in 2012 in Houston where he went 11-11 with a 3.76 ERA over 193 2/3 innings, however he's only thrown 213 major league innings since.
