Report: Braves, Kurt Suzuki finalizing 1-year, $1.5M deal

The Atlanta Braves' busy offseason continued Saturday as the club is in the midst of finalizing a deal with free-agent catcher Kurt Suzuki, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

It's apparently a one-year deal worth $1.5 million, and Suzuki could earn up to $2.5 million in incentives, according to Rosenthal.

If Suzuki were to sign with the Braves, Anthony Recker's future with the team could potentially come to an end, as Rosenthal notes the backstop would be in play for a trade.

Suzuki would likely split catching duties with Tyler Flowers.

The addition of the 33-year-old Suzuki would mark yet another significant roster move made by general manager John Coppolella and the Braves' front office in what has been a busy offseason for the organization.

They've already signed R.A. Dickey, Bartolo Colon, and Sean Rodriguez, traded for Jaime Garcia and Micah Johnson, and extended Ender Inciarte. The Braves also shipped outfielder Mallex Smith and pitcher Shae Simmons to the Mariners in exchange for prospects.

Suzuki spent the past three seasons with the Minnesota Twins, hitting .263/.316/.364 with 16 home runs and 160 RBIs during his stint.

Over his 10-year career, the one-time All-Star owns a .256/.311/.372 slash line with 83 home runs and 519 RBIs.
