Shawn Tolleson may soon be a member of the Tampa Bay Rays, as the team is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with the free-agent reliever, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Tolleson spent the past three seasons with the Texas Rangers, posting a 7.68 ERA in 37 appearances in 2016. He elected free agency after refusing a minor-league assignment in September.
In a combined five career seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Rangers, he owns a 3.92 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.
The reliever would be the third free agent signed by the Rays this offseason after the club agreed to deals with catcher Wilson Ramos and outfielder Colby Rasmus.
