D-Backs agree to 1-year deal with Iannetta
The Arizona Diamondbacks have shored up their catching situation.
Nearly a month to the day after the club signed veteran Jeff Mathis, the team has agreed to a one-year deal with Chris Iannetta, the club announced Friday.
The deal is reportedly worth $1.5-million, according to azcentral's Nick Piecoro.
Iannetta, an 11-year veteran, spent 2016 with the Seattle Mariners. He spent the first six years of his career with the Colorado Rockies before moving over to the Los Angeles Angels for four seasons.
Last season, he slashed .210/.303/.329 with seven home runs in 94 games.
Iannetta is expected to backup, or at least platoon, with Mathis behind the plate next season. The news comes shortly after the Diamondbacks announced a slew of players they signed to arbitration deals.
