MLB unveils 2017 spring training schedule

The 2017 baseball season is almost here.

Less than 24 hours after announcing the report dates for all 30 teams, Major League Baseball unveiled its official spring training schedule Wednesday.

The spring slate opens with one game on Feb. 22, as the Arizona Diamondbacks host Grand Canyon University. The Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies will all open play the following afternoon as each team also hosts a university side.

Official MLB games get underway Feb. 24, with the Baltimore Orioles visiting the Tigers, and Red Sox hosting the New York Mets as part of a five-game schedule.

The spring schedule runs until April 1 and will proceed throughout March while some players attend the World Baseball Classic from March 6-22.
