Report: Dodgers, Twins have 'no momentum' in Dozier trade talks

The Los Angeles Dodgers' pursuit of Brian Dozier appears to be over for the time being.

Despite the Minnesota Twins constantly asking the Dodgers for more in a trade that would send the slugging second baseman to Chavez Ravine, it doesn't seem like L.A. is budging.

Those discussions "are at an impasse," sources told Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, adding there's "no momentum toward a deal."

While the possibility of a Dozier trade still exists to some extent, the Dodgers are expected to circle back and explore options on the trade market. The other two right-handed second basemen they're interested in are reportedly Detroit Tigers veteran Ian Kinsler and Tampa Bay's Logan Forsythe.

Earlier Tuesday, it was reported that Los Angeles and Minnesota were at a standstill, mainly because a return of top pitching prospect Jose De Leon wouldn't be enough for the Twins. Furthermore, Minnesota reportedly doesn't believe De Leon will "fulfill the hype" he created by dominating in the minors.

It's been reported numerous times that Minnesota instead wants to acquire heavy-hitting prospect Cody Bellinger, who would take over Joe Mauer's position at first base when the latter's contract is over.

Last season, Dozier was spectacular at the plate, crushing 42 home runs to go along with 35 doubles and 99 RBIs. He would fit nicely in the Dodgers' lineup, filling the vacancy created when Chase Utley's contract expired.

Utley - a lefty - reuniting with the Dodgers is also a possibility, but the club appears to be interested in acquiring a right-handed bat.
