Report: Rockies have contacted Blanton, Holland

The Colorado Rockies have certainly showed throughout the offseason they aren't shying away from trying to construct a winner after signing Ian Desmond and Mike Dunn to long-term contracts, which may not be the end of their wheelings and dealings.

Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich remains focused on adding to the team's bullpen, which he re-affirmed Tuesday, with Joe Blanton and Greg Holland as targets whom they've contacted, reports Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.

Bridich also mentioned the club will continue to monitor the Mark Trumbo situation, although the 2016 home run king isn't a priority at the moment.

Colorado spent a combined $89 million to acquire Desmond and Dunn, which should help them make a run at a division title in the tough National League West.

Adding Blanton or Holland would certainly help a bullpen that finished last in the NL in ERA (5.13) last season.

The 36-year-old Blanton was impressive across 75 appearances for the Dodgers last season, posting a 2.48 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 80 innings.

He's already drawn reported interest from the Dodgers and Miami Marlins, so the Rockies may have competition for his services.

Holland is reportedly seeking a two-year deal with an opt-out clause after the first year to help him restore value after missing 2016 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

The former Kansas City Royals closer - who has been linked to the Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Chicago Cubs - was clocked between 88-91 miles-per-hour when he threw for teams in November.

Between 2013-15, the 31-year-old saved 125 games, twice fashioning an ERA below 1.44.
