Report: Twins have checked in on Jae-gyun Hwang

Most of the attention surrounding the Minnesota Twins of late is what they plan to do with second baseman Brian Dozier in the weeks leading up to spring training, but that doesn't mean the franchise's sights are focused solely on one task.

The Twins remain active in free-agent discussions and have recently checked in on Korean third baseman Jae-gyun Hwang, according to two sources of Mike Berardino of the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

Hwang worked out in front of 20 major-league clubs in Florida this past November, and has already reportedly drawn interest from the San Francisco Giants.

Minnesota has been relatively quiet during the offseason, signing catcher Jason Castro to a three-year deal, and completing a number of minor-league deals.

Inking Hwang, normally a third baseman, would provide the Twins with an additional infielder to add to the team's mix of Dozier, Miguel Sano, Jorge Polanco, and Eduardo Escobar.

Over the past decade in Korea, Hwang has accumulated a .285/.349/.433 slash line with 114 home runs and 585 RBIs in 1,175 games.

2016 was the most productive season of his career, after he hit .330/.391/.558 with 26 home runs and 104 RBIs.
