The Toronto Blue Jays and Colorado Rockies appear to be far apart on a potential deal that would send Charlie Blackmon north of the border.

Considered a possibility less than a month ago, talks "do not appear to have much momentum right now," according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.

With the Rockies looking to make a splash, Morosi reported on Dec. 8 that Colorado had interest in acquiring right-hander Marcus Stroman in a Blackmon deal, but that Toronto nixed the idea.

Blackmon is one of baseball's elite leadoff hitters, boosting his stock significantly over the past two seasons. In 2016, he had his best year to date, slashing .324/.381/.552 with 29 home runs, 82 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases, finishing third in the National League with 111 runs scored.

Blackmon made $3.5 million last season and is entering his second round of arbitration this winter. The 30-year-old is set to hit free agency after the 2018 season.

While he'll play every day in Colorado, the Rockies have a surplus of outfielders. As it stands, the unit consists of Blackmon, David Dahl, Carlos Gonzalez, Gerardo Parra, and the part-time duties of Ian Desmond.
