D-Backs trade O'Brien to Royals for pitching prospect

The Kansas City Royals have acquired outfielder Peter O'Brien from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for pitching prospect Sam Lewis.

The 26-year-old O'Brien appeared in 28 games with the Diamondbacks last season, hitting .179/.391/.570 with five home runs and nine RBIs. He was initially brought up as a catcher, but transitioned to an outfielder upon making it to the majors.

Lewis, a 6-foot-4 right-hander, combined to a 3-1 record and a 2.17 ERA in 19 games pitching in the Single-A. He struck out 33 batters and issued only three walks.
