Jae-gyun Hwang could be making the long trip from South Korea to San Francisco soon.

The Giants are showing a continued interest in signing the Korean free-agent infielder to a deal, a source told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

The 29-year-old held a showcase for 20 teams in November and was described as the top position player expected to come from Asia to MLB this offseason, according to Morosi.

The Giants interest in Hwang makes sense, as the team remains thin at third base and left field, with Eduardo Nunez, Conor Gillaspie, and Mac Williamson slated to get time at both positions, respectively.

If Hwang is open to a major-league deal, he'd likely be viewed as the best available third baseman on the open market, joining a group that includes Trevor Plouffe and Luis Valbuena.

Playing for the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization since 2010, Hwang has hit 76 home runs since 2014 and is coming off the most productive season of his career, hitting .330/.391/.558 with 26 home runs and 104 RBIs - a personal best.
