The Baltimore Orioles' quiet offseason finally ended Wednesday.

The club reportedly agreed to a one-year, $6-million deal with free-agent catcher Welington Castillo, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. The deal includes a $7-million player option for the 2018 season.

Castillo had been in talks with the Orioles over the past week, though it was believed talks stalled over the weekend after the two sides were unable to agree on a deal.

Baltimore general manager Dan Duquette had been in search of catching help all winter following the departure of Matt Wieters to free agency.

Castillo hit .264/.322/.423 with 14 home runs, 24 doubles, and 121 strikeouts in 113 games in 2016 with the Diamondbacks before the team opted to non-tender him in order to cut payroll. The 29-year-old, who will take over starting catching duties, is coming off a year in which he threw out 24-of-64 (38 percent) of base stealers.
