The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to a one-year deal with closer Fernando Rodney, the team announced Friday.

Rodney's contract is worth $2.75 million, with performance incentives that can earn him an additional $4 million in bonuses.

This will be Rodney's fifth team since 2015, as the right-hander went from the Seattle Mariners to the Chicago Cubs in 2015, and from the San Diego Padres to the Miami Marlins last season.

D-Backs general manager Mike Hazen announced the 39-year-old will be the club's closer.

"With Fernando, we're getting an established major-league closer and a veteran presence in the bullpen," he said in a release. " It is helpful to have someone with his experience on the back end to slow the game down and get the final three outs."

Last year, Rodney saved 25 games, owning a 3.44 ERA while striking out 74 batters over 65 1/3 innings of work.

Over the course of his 14-year career, Rodney has 261 saves and is a three-time All-Star.
