A preliminary list of no-trade teams has surfaced in the Jay Bruce sweepstakes.

The following teams are listed as part of the partial no-trade clause in Bruce's contract, sources told James Wagner of The New York Times:

  • Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Miami Marlins
  • Minnesota Twins
  • New York Yankees
  • Oakland Athletics
  • Philadelphia Phillies
  • Tampa Bay Rays
  • Toronto Blue Jays

Having spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Reds, Bruce was dealt to the New York Mets last season, though he failed to produce.

In 97 games with the Reds, he slashed .265/.316/.559 with 25 homers and 22 doubles, but when he was traded to the Mets, he struggled to the tune of a .219/.294/.391 line with eight homers in 50 games.
