Rockies GM has no intention of trading Gonzalez

Carlos Gonzalez can rest easy.

The Colorado Rockies outfielder - who has had his name floating around as a potential trade chip during the offseason - isn't going anywhere, according to general manager Jeff Bridich, who told MLB Network Radio he has zero intention of trading the three-time All-Star.

"We've had a great relationship with Carlos over the years. There are a multitude of reasons we have not wanted to trade him," Bridich explained.

Gonzalez is eligible for free agency once the 2017 season is completed, so there's still a chance Colorado could change its stance on trading the Venezuelan at the non-waiver trade deadline if the right deal presents itself.

The 31-year-old could also receive a contract extension from the Rockies - Gonzalez's home since 2009 - who don't seem opposed to the idea.

Gonzalez is an intriguing target for clubs after he posted a .298/.350/.505 slash line with 25 home runs and 100 RBIs last season.

The three-time Gold Glove and two-time Silver Slugger award-winner is owed $20 million next season.
