Report: Blue Jays among teams showing interest in Feliz

Following the departures of relievers Brett Cecil and Joaquin Benoit in free agency, the Toronto Blue Jays are checking in with another bullpen arm.

The Blue Jays are one of the teams showing interest in free-agent reliever Neftali Feliz, according to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports. The rebuilding San Diego Padres are another team checking in on the 28-year-old.

Feliz was one of the best young relievers in all of baseball from 2009-2014 with the Texas Rangers, when he amassed 87 saves with a 2.53 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, but struggled mightily in 2015 with a 6.38 ERA in 48 games between the Detroit Tigers and Rangers.

With the Pittsburgh Pirates this season, Feliz rebounded admirably with a 3.52 ERA in 62 games out of the bullpen, including an impressive 10.2 K/9.

The Blue Jays have several spots to fill in the bullpen, and have expressed interest in Brad Ziegler and left-handed reliever Jerry Blevins as possible replacement options for Cecil.
