Report: Dodgers have shown recent interest in McCutchen

When the winter meetings opened up in Maryland on Monday morning, the Pittsburgh Pirates reportedly had more teams interested in outfielder Andrew McCutchen than just the Washington Nationals.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, who have previously been linked to the former National League MVP, are continuing to show interest in acquiring the 30-year-old, reports FOX Sports' Jon Morosi.

McCutchen has been the hottest topic in the trade department during the offseason, with the Nationals front and center in all discussions surrounding Pittsburgh's franchise player - although the Texas Rangers remain in frequent contact with the Pirates, according to sources of FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

But the Dodgers appear to be ready to beef up an outfield that would consist of Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig, and Andrew Toles if the season began Monday.

PLAYER AGE G HR RBI OPS WAR
Andrew McCutchen 30 1190 175 637 .869 40.9
Joc Pederson 24 306 51 122 .792 6.6
Yasiel Puig 25 435 57 194 .833 12.1
Andrew Toles 24 48 3 16 .870 1.6

The Pirates are reportedly seeking significant young talent in any trade for McCutchen, who experienced a down year in 2016, posting a career-low .766 OPS across 153 games.

It's uncertain what position in the outfield the Dodgers would use McCutchen in if they acquired him, but he's played all but five games of his career in center field, and isn't interested in moving to a corner outfield spot.

Even after last season, the five-time All-Star, who finished third or above in MVP voting three times, has appealed to clubs because he's owed just $14 million in 2017, and has a 2018 team option attached to his contract valued at $14.75 million, with a $1-million buyout.
