Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Jung Ho Kang was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a DUI accident last Friday morning in Seoul, and a report has now surfaced claiming it wasn't the first time the 29-year-old has been involved in this type of incident.

According to police, this will be the third DUI arrest for Kang since 2009, which, under the three strikes law, could lead to the immediate removal of his license, Jeeho Yoo of Yonhap News reports.

Kang - whose blood alcohol level was 0.084 percent and above the legal limit of 0.05 percent during the accident - was also arrested in both August of 2009 and May of 2011 for DUIs, causing property damage in the latter incident, according to Yoo.

The Pirates third baseman, who also was under investigation for an alleged sexual assault of a woman in a Chicago hotel room this past July, claimed he wasn't driving the vehicle when he crashed it, but police discovered he was the driver after investigating the car's black box.

Should Kang have his license suspended, he won't be able to reacquire it for two years. He could potentially face additional abetting charges if he asked the passenger of the vehicle to take the wrap for him. The passenger of the vehicle, described only by surname as Yoo, allegedly said he acted out of goodwill for his friend.

After his release from jail, Kang issued an apology for the incident.

The Pirates signed Kang to a four-year, $11-million contract in January 2015, after posting a winning bid just north of $5 million to negotiate with him.
