Report: Dodgers shopping Kazmir, McCarthy

With the Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly closing in on a multi-year deal with Rich Hill, the front office is looking to unload from a surplus of arms.

Veteran starters Scott Kazmir and Brandon McCarthy are being shopped by the Dodgers, according to Buster Olney of ESPN, as they try to clear additional space on their 40-man roster.

Kazmir went 10-6 with a 4.56 ERA and 1.36 WHIP across 136 1/3 innings last season. He missed time with neck inflammation and rib issues before being diagnosed with thoracic spine inflammation. The 32-year-old is owed another $35.2 million over the next two seasons after deciding not to opt out of his contract last month.

McCarthy has been an extreme disappointment since signing a four-year, $48-million deal in 2014. He's gone 5-3 with a 5.29 ERA over the last two seasons, with injuries limiting him to just 63 innings over that time. The 33-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in 2015, and landed back on the DL this August with hip issues. He has two years and $23 million left on his contract.
