Angels' John Lamb: Inks deal with Angels

Lamb (back) signed a minor league deal with the Angels on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

Analysis:

Lamb was traded to the Rays earlier in the offseason but was released just two weeks later, and will now land in the Angels' organization. The 26-year-old underwent back surgery in October and is expected to miss the beginning of the season, and he'll likely need a few rehab starts once healthy, so it's a bit unclear when he'll get a chance to help out on the Los Angeles pitching staff. He posted a 5.80 ERA in 2015 and a 6.43 mark last season though, so a major league roster spot isn't guaranteed even when he is healthy.
