The Chicago Cubs made a lot of noise during the 2015 offseason, inking Jason Heyward, Ben Zobrist, and John Lackey to multi-year deals, but they've been relatively quiet in free agency this time around, with Tuesday's signing of Jon Jay being their only move thus far.

Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer told reporters Wednesday he expects a quieter winter for his team during this offseason after the bulk of the heavy lifting was done 12 months ago, according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times.

One player Hoyer said the Cubs aren't completely ruling out a reunion with is last season's center fielder, Dexter Fowler, although he realizes signing the 30-year-old may be tough due to increased interest in his services.

"We'd never close the door on Dexter, but we're aware that's something that may not happen," he explained.

After signing Jay, the Cubs outfield is jam-packed. Including the latest addition to the Chicago lineup, the club also has Heyward, Zobrist, Kyle Schwarber, Albert Almora Jr., Jorge Soler, and Matt Szczur in their outfield depth charts.

Fowler, who is reportedly seeking a four-year contract, is one of the top remaining free agents on the open market after hitting .276/.393/.447 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs to go along with 13 steals and seven triples.

He's already drawn varying degrees of interest from clubs such as the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.
