Report: Indians, Red Sox, Rangers showing interest in Napoli

All of Mike Napoli's exes apparently want him back.

The 35-year-old slugger is coming off a career season, and the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Texas Rangers are the most serious contenders to sign him, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

The New York Yankees and Houston Astros remain in the hunt, but are long-shot possibilities.

In his lone season with the Indians, Napoli played a key role in sending the organization to the World Series, slashing .239/.335/.465 with a career-high 34 homers and 101 RBIs. Should he return to Cleveland, he'd go back into the exact role he played in 2016.

If the Red Sox brought back Napoli, it would be an easy decision to slot him in the now-vacant designated hitter slot, or even move Hanley Ramirez into a hit-only role.

The Rangers, who appear to be parting ways with free-agent first baseman Mitch Moreland, are another option. The slugger had two separate stints with Texas in 2011-12 and 2015, and could move into a role at first base.
