Orioles' Logan Verrett: Traded to Orioles

Verrett was traded to the Orioles on Wednesday in exchange for cash, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

Analysis:

Verrett was picked by the Orioles in the 2015 Rule 5 draft, so they have history with him. He managed a 2.84 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 31.2 innings as a reliever, but posted a 6.45 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 60 innings as a starter with the Mets last year. The Mets obviously were not going to be using him as a starter in 2017, but the Orioles could wind up trying him in that role at some point, considering some of the mediocre options they have used in recent seasons. That said, even if he were to find his way into the rotation, he would be unappealing in the majority of fantasy formats. If he ends up relieving, then he becomes even less interesting, as he would be used in middle relief.
