Report: Mets receiving more interest in Granderson than Bruce

With Yoenis Cespedes on his way back to the Big Apple, the New York Mets have a surplus of outfielders - one of which they'd like to trade.

Among the trade candidates are Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce, and although the Toronto Blue Jays are among the teams showing reported interest in Bruce, Granderson is actually drawing most of the trade interest of the pair, a source told Marc Carig of Newsday.

The deciding factor would be the return the Mets could receive in potential deals, Carig writes, while team officials expect a number of discussions regarding the pair leading up to the winter meetings.

After signing Cespedes, the Mets have a surplus of left-handed-hitting outfielders, including Granderson, Bruce, Michael Conforto, and Brandon Nimmo, so trading one of them has become a priority, although Conforto is a player they have little interest in moving, according to Carig's sources.

Prior to signing Cespedes, the Mets had been linked to a trade for Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez, but Carig reports "talks fizzled" when the Tigers asked for Conforto in return.

Both Granderson ($15 million) and Bruce ($13 million) are in the final years of their contracts and had productive seasons in 2016.
