Report: Cahill has received offers from 3 teams

It's been more than two-and-a-half seasons since right-hander Trevor Cahill was last a consistent member of a starting rotation, but that isn't stopping teams from getting in touch with the free-agent hurler for the role.

The 28-year-old Cahill is marketing himself as a starter on the open market, and has already received offers from three teams, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Cahill was an incredibly effective reliever for the Chicago Cubs over the past two seasons, never posting an ERA over 3.00 while striking out nine hitters per nine innings last season.

The one-time 18-game winner and All-Star did make one start for the Cubs in 2016, taking the hill against the Milwaukee Brewers this past Aug. 16, tossing five shutout innings of two-hit ball and earning a win.

Cahill made a reasonable $4.25 million with the Cubs last season and could provide a team in need of innings and depth with a viable, affordable option.

Over the course of his eight-year career, Cahill owns a 69-76 record with a 4.05 ERA in 1,149 1/3 innings of work, including 174 starts.
