Report: D-Backs expect increased trade interest in young starters

The Arizona Diamondbacks were involved in one of the biggest transactions of the offseason thus far when they traded a package of players including second baseman Jean Segura to the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Taijuan Walker and shortstop Ketel Marte.

With the addition of the 24-year-old Walker to their stable of young starting pitching, the Diamondbacks are expecting to receive increased trade interest in their youthful hurlers, reports FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

After ace Zack Greinke, the Diamondbacks could have five starting pitchers competing for four spots in the team's rotation in 2017, all of whom are between the ages of 24 and 27 and experiencing various amounts of success in the big leagues thus far.

All five pitchers are under team control through at least 2019 and currently in the early stages of their arbitration years, which means they won't be expensive to possess for any club interested in their services.

The Diamondbacks - who fired general manager Dave Stewart and manager Chip Hale in October - finished fourth in the National League West last season with a record of 69-93.
