With Dexter Fowler available on the open market, the Chicago Cubs are looking into other options, and they may have found a fit in Colorado.

The Cubs have been connected to Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon, reports Chicago Cubs Online according to Bruce Levine of 670thescore.

The interest isn't a surprise as Rockies general manager Jeff Bridrich has reportedly been receiving inquiries about not only Blackmon, but Carlos Gonzalez lately, although a deal appears unlikely.

This isn't the first time Chicago has shown interest in Blackmon, however, as they were one of many teams linked to the 30-year-old in January 2015.

The addition of Blackmon would create a healthy logjam on the North Side, with Kyle Schwarber, Ben Zobrist, Jason Heyward, Albert Almora Jr., Jorge Soler, and Matt Szczur all on the depth chart in Chicago's outfield.

Blackmon posted the best offensive numbers of his career in 2016, recording career highs in runs (111), hits (187), doubles (35), home runs (29), RBIs (82), and OPS (.933).

He's also stolen 101 bases during his six-year big-league career.

Blackmon, a one-time All-Star and 2016 Silver Slugger winner, made $3.5 million last season, is arbitration eligible for the second time, and can become a free agent in 2019.
