Astros finalize 4-year deal with Reddick

The Houston Astros and Josh Reddick have officially come to terms on a four-year contract.

The deal will see Reddick earn $52 million over that span, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Over eight years in the majors, the 29-year-old owns a .255/.316/.430 slash line with 96 home runs and 346 RBIs.

"I'm really excited to be here and very happy to be here and happy to get it done early," Reddick said Wednesday, according to McTaggart, adding he's excited to play the outfield with George Springer.

"We're going to run through the wall and catch anything, and if it hurts, it'll feel better tomorrow."

Reddick struggled after being traded from the Oakland Athletics to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline last season, hitting just two home runs and driving in nine runs in 47 games.

Although his season was lackluster, he raked in the postseason, slashing .308/.333/.308 while bopping eight hits and striking out only twice in 10 games.

For Reddick, this was his first time hitting free agency, and he says it couldn't have gone any smoother.

"I didn't know these guys were interested in me. Once I heard from these guys, it was pretty smooth sailing," he said. "This is the most exciting day for me in baseball. To be a free agent for (the) first time and go so smooth ... was a great thing for me."
