Twitter rips apart Padres' latest uniform redesign

They may be bland, but they've sure elicited some colorful reactions.

On Tuesday, the San Diego Padres revealed changes to their home and road uniforms for the 2017 season. Gone are the blue-and-yellow home whites that debuted just over a year ago, in favor of a more understated blue-and-white scheme. The new road grays bring back the "San Diego" PowerPoint-style font worn from 2004-11.

Suffice to say, the changes did not go over well with Padres fans, who weren't all that happy to begin with after having watched their team slog through its sixth consecutive losing season.

The team's new look was widely criticized and even mocked on Twitter for being, among other things, too boring.

At least one person made sure to note the similarities between the new road jersey and the one San Diego wore several years ago.

Perhaps the biggest outcry from fans was over the Padres not returning to their colorful roots of brown and yellow, a scheme that continues to be tightly associated with the franchise.

Don't fret too much if you're on team brown, though.

The Padres did announce that their popular brown alternate jerseys will be returning in 2017, along with last year's redesigned blue camouflage uniform.
