Twins' Jason Castro: Agrees to deal with Minnesota
Castro has agreed to a three-year contract with the Twins, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis:
Since putting up a .276 batting average in 2013, Castro's hitting has regressed for three consecutive seasons, having bottomed out at .210 in 2016 (along with three consecutive seasons of an OPS below .700). However, the Twins likely deemed Castro's defensive performance to be valuable, especially his pitch-framing ability, as his contract is slated to be worth upward of $24 million.
