Report: Orioles interested in reunion with Hundley

With Matt Wieters on the free-agent market and the Baltimore Orioles reportedly not interested in opening up their wallets, the club could instead reunite with an old friend.

Baltimore is showing interest in Nick Hundley to fill its catching void, reports Baltimore Baseball.com's Dan Connolly, citing sources.

The 33-year-old Hundley spent the past two seasons with the Colorado Rockies after playing 50 games for the Orioles in 2014.

Connolly also wrote that pitchers enjoyed working with Hundley during his previous stint in Baltimore, and that Hundley developed a strong connection with current Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph - who backed up Wieters in 2016 - and catching instructor John Russell.

The veteran backstop hit .260/.320/.439 with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs during 83 games for the Rockies in 2016, after posting an .807 OPS with the club in 2015.

Hundley, who missed time with concussion-like symptoms and an oblique strain last season, only managed to throw out 13.6 percent of steal attempts, a serious decline from 34.2 percent in 2015.

He earned $3.15 million last year.
