Rays' Steve Geltz: Designated for assignment

Geltz was designated for assignment by the Rays on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis:

Geltz worked himself into a prominent role in the Rays' bullpen in 2015, making 70 appearances and even recording a couple saves, but he evidently fell out of favor within the organization with a lackluster showing in 2016. He will now be subjected to waivers.
