The Toronto Blue Jays officially signed designated hitter Kendrys Morales to a three-year, $33-million contract on Friday.

Morales and the Blue Jays had agreed to a deal in principle on Nov. 11, pending a physical.

The 33-year-old slugger spent the past two seasons with the Kansas City Royals, slashing .277/.344/.476 with 52 home runs, 65 doubles, and 199 RBIs.

Signing Morales could potentially spell an end to the tenure of Edwin Encarnacion in Toronto, although his agent said Thursday "the door's still open" for a reunion.

Over the course of his 10-year career in the bigs, Morales owns a .273/.331/.465 slash line with 162 home runs, 215 doubles, 586 RBIs, and an OPS of .795.
