Aroldis Chapman wrapped up the longest outing of his career in record-breaking speed.

Making his earliest appearance in a game since 2012, Chapman pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings for his first-ever eight-out save as the Cubs extended their season and sent the World Series back to Cleveland.

Chapman, who struck out four and allowed just one hit, threw 42 pitches during the Cubs' 3-2 victory, 19 of which were thrown at 100 mph or more - a new postseason record, according to Statcast.

Chicago's hard-throwing closer began and ended his outing by striking out Jose Ramirez in the seventh and ninth, while also fanning Yan Gomes and Francisco Lindor during the eighth.

"Nobody’s ever just run to the bat rack when Chapman comes into the game," Indians manager Terry Francona said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt. "I can guarantee you that."
